Dental Restoration in Lake Orion
Dental decay is caused by the buildup of plaque and tartar on the teeth and gums in your mouth. It can happen for a variety of reasons, and if left untreated it can lead to other, more serious health problems and cause a lot of pain.
Our dentists will perform a thorough examination and determine the best care option for you and your smile. Some of these options include:
Fillings
Cavities are caused by excess plaque on the layer of enamel that protects your teeth. To properly restore your tooth, our dentists remove the decay and clean the tooth. A filling, typically made of plastic or metal, will be placed to restore your tooth.
Crowns
If there is a significant amount of decay, you may require a crown. Crowns completely encapsulate the tooth protecting it from further decay. Crowns can be made from gold, a porcelain / metal compound or pure white porcelain.
Inlays
When the tooth structure is at risk because of decay, an Inlay is added to the spaces in between the cusps. An inlay is custom made to the specific shape of your tooth and is most often made from porcelain and is very durable.
Onlays
Similar to Inlays, onlays are custom made to fit to your tooth. However, they are made to cover either one or more cusps, or the entire biting surface of the tooth. These are also known as “partial crowns.”
Dental Bridges
If the tooth is beyond repair, Dr. Komendera may recommend removing the tooth completely and inserting a bridge. A bridge is when the teeth on either side of the space is prepared as crowns so that they can support a replacement tooth.
When your smile needs a little TLC, Dr. Komendera and his staff put every effort into helping you restore your smile. Call us today to book an appointment.
